AVOB™ Energy Saver™ 3.4.

Your IT infrastructure as a new area of savings for your organization

AVOB™ brings you the most innovative power management solution on the market : both technology and business model are unique and help you make the most savings off your energy bill.

Technology

AVOB™ Energy Saver™ is the only solution on the market that maximizes energy savings when Desktops, Laptops, Screens, Cisco™ network elements (routers, switches, IP Phones, Wireless Access Points) are not being used (Smart Sleep™) and the only one that throttles processor (Efficient Power™) to match the actual needs while the PCs are being used.

Business model

AVOB™'s licensing model will charge the customer based on the actual savings. AVOB™ will work with the customer to first conduct an extensive audit to establish the baseline. Then the AVOB™ Energy Saver™ will help reduce consumption and realize savings. There is no upfront software license fee. However, if you look at the overall project, we are measuring ROI on how much they will end up having paid AVOB™ and how many months of energy savings will have paid for it.

So not only the technology brings rapid ROI but you do not have to pay the license fees upfront. You pay them once baseline and savings have been established. They are calculated on those.

Real time throttling of processor performance:

a technological revolution for the planet.

Computing capabilities have grown tremendously and the famous Moore’s law still holds true. PCs and laptops pack an incredible amount of computing power to answer the needs of the most demanding applications and users.

Efficient Power™

To reduce the energy impact of computing equipment, power management solutions put PCs and laptops to sleep when users are no longer in front of them.

Efficient Power™

Efficient Power™ is an unique technology instantly allocate enough computing power of all laptops, desktops, servers depending on software needs: when users do not need power, processor speed and voltage are reduced to spend less energy.

Energy Saver™ is therefore the only solution on the market that reduces your energy consumption 100% of the time. The software impacts consumption behind the scenes all the time.

The Efficient Power™ technology leverages the latest capabilities developed by chipset manufacturers Intel and AMD and passed their certifications. Efficient Power™ will reduce the energy consumption of PCs and laptops without any negative impact to user productivity. This brings a lot of new energy savings when it matter most: during daytime at the peak of energy consumption overall.

AVOB™ Team

Why implement Efficient Power™ ?

Our technology for ramping down processor speed and voltage in laptops lead to an "automatic" reduction in laptop power usage by 15 to 30 percent. For example, a Lenovo X31 laptop tested in labs with battery life extended from about 6 hours to 7.5 hours We can also make savings on production computers for example who have to be ON 24/24h.

Additionnal bennefits

  • Increase life of equipment.
  • Increase the battery life of laptops.
  • Increase autonomy of battery.
  • Decrease CPU temperature and power dissipation.

AVOB™ Smart Sleep™.

Your infrastructure equipment can sleep safely.

Power management solutions must maximize energy savings without any impact to user experience or productivity. The ideal solution must be powerful yet flexible enough to match the needs of all users.

Efficient Power™

Energy needs are very different from one organization to another: large or small enterprises do not have the same usage profile. Within a given organization, different teams will have different usage patterns as well: R&D users will not have the same need as the sales team for example. Another dimension of complexity is the fact that energy costs will be different from one power company to another with costs fluctuations introduced at times of important usage.

Even at the level of granularity of a given group, different users will have different usage patterns and needs. Most power management solutions on the market allow for granularity at the user group level (based on integration with directory services like Active Directory) – but that is not enough. Indeed, it becomes very difficult to implement a solution that is optimal for all without a supporting technology that allows granularity to the user or application level. Here are some examples of where it might matter:

  • Within the sales organization you can have Inside sales people and field sales people that will have very different needs and usage patterns.
  • Within R&D maybe a Small group of developers needs to run simulations or régression tests all day while others will not.
  • A handful of users in the finance group that might need to leave their machines on during the night once a month to calculate and generate the latest accounting report before the monthly board meeting.
  • No savings on a number that PCs that happen to run an application that prevents Sleep mode without any real need for that PC not to go to sleep when not in use.

This was a call for [users] to start taking the issue seriously, like they have with reliability and security in the past. Developers have not played an active role in ensuring that their applications allow systems to run efficiently. It's all too easy for systems to undermine power management, or contribute to a poor user experience when they're trying to use power management.

— Mark Aggar, Microsoft's Director Of Environmental Technology

AVOB™ Smart Sleep™

Smart Sleep™ brings an intelligent, unique and flexible management of the power settings. AVOB™’s proprietary algorithms bring a wealth of new capabilities to power management.

AVOB™ Team

Why a focus on sleep?

One of the main points of dissatisfaction among PC users comes from boot time. Regardless of the hardware configuration, turning on the machine and booting up the operating system takes time before control is given to the user. This expectation is sensitive, enough so that many users prefer to leave their machine on continuously. The sleep state saves the work environment when it is enabled, and keeps the PC active at a minimum level, with reduced power consumption. Benefit: the machine's startup time is also reduced to a level that becomes tolerable to the user.

Traditional Client and Server management suites were based for a long time on the notion of having PCs or laptops turned on at all times. This would allow the management suite to perform patching, antivirus or other tasks quickly on all the equipment.

While it is important to make sure that all PCs and laptops requiring maintenance are on for that cycle, it is not efficient to keep them on at all times just for that.

The ideal solution must be able to turn on all the equipment for the maintenance – not missing a single PC or laptop that requires the maintenance.

AVOB™’s Wake UP ! technology brings together a large number of Wake technologies (WakeUp timers, Dynamic WoL using clients as proxies, Intel vPro integration, WakeOnWeb) so that no PC or laptop is left behind during the maintenance cycle.
